Hi,
Love the plugin but have a feeling I’m doing something wrong :( It is only grabbing the first few sentences of the articles that are feeding. I don’t see anything in the settings area to change how much of these articles should post, it should be the complete article. Can you please help?
Thanks,
Chuck

Satheesh

Dear friend, while creating or editing a Yaab project , you can see an option to combine or not to combine multiple feeds. If you opt not to combine, it will post each rss entry to separate posts. In that case, it will not truncate any feed with less than 100000 characters. This limit is set for a security reason. Most feeds do not have more than 100000 characters per item.

I think, this is not the problem in your case. While you select the option to combine multiple feeds, you can see a box with a default value of 500. This is the maximum characters that it fetch. You can set it to any value. I love cutting down feed entries while multiple feeds are combined. If want to post the full item, I recommend you to set this value to 100000.

Very useful plugin but just need auto embed video like youtube or dailymotion automatically without use [youtube] just take with width and height from spec :’( it will be perfect after ! Thanks man !

Satheesh

@Jean-Michel
Dear friend, thanks a lot for your suggestion. I think you need a video syndicating plugin. Yaab is an autoblogging plugin that can do many things including video syndication from you tube. [youtubevideo] variable gives a lot of flexibility to Yaab, so that we can use it for this purpose, and for other purposes as well
I have originally made Yaab for enabling sms blogging in my blog. You might have noticed that Yaab has [smstitle] and [smscontent] variables, I use only them. All the remaining tags were made for my friends all over the world ( including you ).
As per your suggestion I can add variables for dailymotion, metacafe , google video, etc too.
About the video frame size, that is an error from my part that I have kept it very small to fit the size of my website. From the next version onwards, I think I can enable an option to do it.

Hi;

I can not get the [link] function to actually link back to the original article, so I only get half of it and the reader can not access the full article. Can you help?

thanks

Satheesh

Dear Steve, [link] work fine for many feeds I have tested. I am happy to test your feed too. Please gimme the feed url for which [link] do not work.
About the item length, there is an option to select maximum number of characters to show. Default is 500. You can set it to 100000 or bigger. Thank you for your valuable feedback.

steve

Satheesh;
Thanks for such a quick response. I know it’s not the rss feed. I tried using the code you provided in the box :

<a href=”[link]” rel=”nofollow”>[title]</a>.

But, I get the title posted twice. The first one just loops it back onto itself, while the second title links to the original source. Not sure what I’m doing wrong: (go to link this link to see what I’m talking about
http://thescholarsforum.org/?p=12295)

thanks
steve

steve

sorry…I realized that I may not have been as explicit as needed: The links look like this:

Building Infrastructure Resiliency: Private Sector Investment in Homeland Security</a>”>Building Infrastructure Resiliency: Private Sector Investment in Homeland Security</a>

Satheesh

Dear Steve, I assume that you have used <a href=”[link]” rel=”nofollow”>[title]</a>. in the title pattern. For time being, [link] will work only in content pattern. You can link back to original article by using [link] in content , not in title. Title is always linked to its permalink in your blog.

I think you need a feature to backlink to original item from the title field itself. I have thought of this feature earlier too,…but…I am sorry..I forgot..!

I will add this feature since next version ( releasing on February 3 rd ).

The version of Yaab you are using now is a bit older. Please download the latest Yaab 1.3. Its much better.

Thanks a lot for your valuable feedback. Keep in touch

steve

Satheesh;

Thank-you aginn for being so prompt. I think I miswrote. I used <a href=”[link]” rel=”nofollow”>[title]</a> in the title pattern. I can live with the dbl title post. I just can’t figure out why it posts it twice with the second linking back to the original source. As far as I recall, I did download your latest version and look forwward to the second. One idea, is that, like you can in wp-o-matic, it would be nice to have a click feature or a drop down to pick your categories you want to assign the feed to…for what it’s worth.
thanks
steve

Satheesh

Dear Steve, please don’t use html codes like <a href= etc in title pattern, you can use html only in content pattern. Use something like [title]-[editionth] etc.

Please re-download the Yaab, what you got was an older version. I have double checked it. ( sorry that was a temporary error happened during site maintenance ).

The new Yaab has tag support, Utopian posting, Postlog rss, More cron options, live tracking of other Yaab users , automatic user registration etc. Yaab 1.3 is not just an autoblogger it can work as a feed combining software too.

I own a Google SMS Channel ( India only ) named HEADLINESINDIA. This channel has 4500 users ( + 25 everyday ). I use Yaab to combine various news feeds for this channel. Any one from india can register by sending ON HEADLINESINDIA to 09870807070; anyway that’s another story

I have seen drop down categories in wp-o-matic. But I haven’t ever thought it is a nice feature (my mistake ), until you said it. I give full mark to your opinion and it will be available with next Yaab. Thanks a lot again.

Hal

Bug report?
v1.3 consistently makes ‘by’ link at end of post with wrong-
url shown as myblog.url “thecorrectlink.url” so of course does not work.
I Am using Wordpress 2.7
Thanks.

Satheesh

Hi Hal.
Thanks a lot for your kind attempt to debug Yaab.
As you have said, Yaab shows a “by” link at the bottom of every post because the default content pattern is [content]<br/>By <a href=”[authorlink]“>[author]</a> . That is, the original author name will be linked to original author’s website. If the feed does not have the author’s name, the site name is considered as author name.
You can set the content pattern while you create a Yaab project, or you can edit it later. The variables for this are available in the Yaab interphase itsef ( please mtick “Show All variables” to see it )
I recommend you to give a backlink to the origianal article or author’s site as this will avoid a lot of copyright issues. If you want to link to your url instead of the author’s, use somethying like <a href=”www.mysite.com”>[authorname]<a>

Hal

[authorlink] is not parsing properly. In addition to above problem am sometimes getting spurious characters, such as

http://macworld.com“/

from feed

http://www.bloglines.com/search?q=macbook&ql=en&s=f&pop=l&news=m&format=rss

Satheesh

Dear Hal,
I have tested it..and fixed it…a million thanks you for your feedback…please redownload Yaab..it will work.

Enrique

Wonderful plugin! Many thanks. One issue, however… When I try to manually fetch after setting up a new job, the plugin often “forgets”/truncates the feed URLs I provided.

If I put it in again, it will sometimes work. Other times, it will do the same thing. I am trying to use RSS feeds generated via Google’s blogsearch… Is it just that the resulting RSS URLs are too long or is there some other issue?

Roy

HEYYYYY GREAT plug in.

Silly question ..where do I set MODE : DUPLICATE

Cheers

Satheesh

@ Roy
DUPLICATE was a command in classical first edition of yaab…its not valid in new versions
Yaab was originally a automated blog carnival software, that I have designed for purely personal purpose. DUPLICATE MODE added a wp-o-matic like function to Yaab. Now all these features are mixed up…The basic code still use “MODES”, but not in Yaab interphase.

Satheesh

@Enrique
Thank you my friend for your valuable feedback…
Yaab has no bar on length of url or type of feed… The feed fetching part is done by wordpress itself using Magpie rss parser. Yaab does the rest of the work. I have tested with google blogsearch feeds. It works,…but in between it may not fetch.. But this happen with wp-o-matic, feedwordpress and all other similar plugins. It may be an error with Mr.Google.

Hi

I like your plugin very much. One thing I do not see is how can I download a feed but then have the posts staggered when published? Also if I do not download the maximum posts does Yaab automatically go and get new posts the next day? So if feed has 20 posts and you set up yaab to download 2 - will it go out everyday and get 2 new ones until it gets all 20? And then does it keep checking for new rss feed?

Satheesh

@Bob

how can I download a feed but then have the posts staggered when published?

.. will you please explain more…?

maximum posts does Yaab automatically g….

no…in that case it will download the latest 2 entries and wait for new entries in rss…this is a good option to avoid old posts and to decrease server load

Balajio

Hello its mydigitallife.info feed and also with all other site feeds also…

Satheesh

Dear balaji,
I have tested it at this blog. It works fine. You can see how my wordpress posted it at http://i41.tinypic.com/2igccvs.jpg.

I have seen your site at worldatbrain.com. I have seen the error you said, but many other Yaab posts seems to be good. So far Yaab has made 0.1 million automated posts across 100 blogs. It never produced such an error!!

I have 3 recomendations for you

Delete and re-create that particular Yaab project
Redownload and reinstall Yaab
Please ensure the PHP version in your server is 5.0 or above
If you don’t mind, Please gimme your username and password. I will test in your server

Thanks a lot for your supports.

Bob

Hi Satheesh

I was using another plugin and it would grab all the posts available but you could set it to post X number per day.

This is a great aspect because you could pull in a feed with 30 posts and be set for the next month. But their plugin would not go out on it’s own to find new posts and I had problems with format of posts. Many of the feeds I use do not update every day or even every week.

Your plugin is much better on format and I really like the automation - but I do not want to publish 30 posts in one day and then have no posts for a while until new posts are available.

Also you can email me and I can send what I think is the php code that allowed for that function.

Satheesh

What a great idea Bob !!! I have never thought of it. Please share me the code. I will do my level best to introduce that feature with next version

Bob

Hi Sateeth

Could you please provide me email address - I do not want to post code in public forum since I am not original author

Satheesh

@Bob
Yeah..I will send you..plz check ur mailbox

Mark Christianson

Thanks for the plugin… one issue that seems to be css conflicts. Your css loads in every page of the admin and it creates an issue with some other plugins we use. I have to turn on yabb… fire it off then turn it off again so if you could let me know when you get that resolved, we’d love to utilize the cron jobs instead of manual.

Satheesh

@Mark Christianson
Its fixed. Please re-downlaod Yaab on this Sunday

Dave

Hi Satheesh

Firs of, thanks for creating such an excellent plugin. It perfectly suits my needs, so thanks for your hard work in developing it.

However I seem to be having one problem… The first time I used “fetch”, everything seemed to work fine. But now every time I do it, the Title doesn’t appear. I have checked that I have [title] in the title section, and I can’t see what might be causing this.

Many thanks for your help

Joanne

Good day Satheesh,
Thanks for this great plugin! However, I am facing problems as below:
1) I got b…/b tag in my posts from Google blog search feed.
2) The posts from Google news feed contain html and programing words. (same problem as Balaji)
3) The author source from Yahoo news is pointing to Yahoo main website instead of the author’s site.
Hope that you can help to investigate and advise on how to fix these issues

Satheesh,

Thanks for the great plug-in.

I’m having a couple issues. I can’t get the plugin to automatically post videos for me, and when I manually fetch videos, it grabs the same ones it’s already posted. I sent you the details in a PM on the Warrior Forum about a week ago and haven’t heard back. Can you help?

Hjalte

Hi Satheesh.. Thanks for a really cool plugin.
I have one problem. For some reason YAAB seems to have a problem with log feed URLS.

This is an example of an url I’m having promlems with:

“http://www.articlespan.com/ffeed/rss.php?type=search&q=%2Binfertility+%2B(treatments+clinic+clinics+doctor+traditionel)+-acupuncture+-herb+-alternative+-chinese&sort=random&full=1&qty=1″

When I add a project, insert the URL and save it, the URL turns into this: “http://www.articlespan.com/ffeed/rss.php?type=search&q=%2Binfertility+%2B(treatments+clinic+clin”

Do you have any idea why this is?

Satheesh

Hjalte
That’s a limitation in the database structure…I will correct it soon..

Zander

Is it possible to create separate feeds for different pages. For example, have some posts go to the homepage, and others to other pages on the blog? This would be a great help. Thanks.

jojo

I’m having the same problem as ‘joanne’ all the post title have b…./b
I’m using Google blog search feed.
Hope you’ll be able to help.
Thanks A lot.

hi.. the plugin is good, and i just start using.. but i see that there are unnecessary space between the title post and the title ?
how can i eliminate those spaces?
pls help take a look at the site pls..
besides this issue, the plugin looks great!

thks.. :)

Mike

Satheesh

I see the options are to make each Rss entry to separate posts or combine multiple Rss items into single post.

Is it possible to have RSS items post to Wordpress page?

Sayeed

Hi Satheesh,

Awesome job on the plugin. I am running into an issue where i am getting duplicate posts and it’s to the point where i think i overloaded my hostint company’s db in a matter of days. My wp blog is currently down for this reason and i was wondering if i am doing something wrong. Can the plugin filter duplicate data?

Lurn

Please add option to keep original post date from the feed instead of when Yabb adds it. Other then that great work, love it.

Satheesh

@Lurn Thats a nice idea I’ve thought of ealier too, but i couldn’t do it with Yaab yet. I think I can make it possible by next version.

Sayeed

Thanks Lurn. How do i do that?

Sayeed

Hi Sateesh,
Back to my original issue. will Lurn’s solution work for duplicate content or do i have to do something different?

Sayeed

Hi Sateesh,
I am getting the following error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function username_exists() wp-content/plugins/Yaab/Yaab.php on line 5706

Is there a fix for this as of yet?

Paul

But I have the same problem as Sayeed. I am pulling feeds from different friends’ sites, but if they haven’t updated, it just keeps pulling the same post.

There really should be an option where you check the date of the latest posts in the feed, or look for duplicate titles, and if there isn’t anything new to post, then Yaab just skips posting on this pass.

If you could do that, you would have a nearly perfect plugin here, although it would be nice if you would list all the available commands somewhere.

Thanks for your hard work, Sateesh.
